CALGARY ZOO, CANADA: These two starring musk oxen battle a ‘bale’ of rope placed around a tree trunk at the zoo. The great moment of the Gaary and Tilly testing their new toy at the Calgary Zoo in Calgary, Canada, was shared on the 20th of May. Footage shows how two strong musk oxen stick their horns in a ‘bale’ of rope trying to undo it. One of them continued the satisfaction of fighting the new toy while another decided to take a refreshing bath. The musk ox is a hoofed mammal that belongs to the Bovidae family. Muskoxen are widespread in Greenland and the Canadian Arctic of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, with reintroduced populations in the American state of Alaska, the Canadian territory of Yukon, and Siberia, and an introduced population in Norway, part of which emigrated to Sweden. It is noted for its thick coat and for the strong odour emitted by males during the seasonal rut. This musky odour has the effect of attracting females during mating season.
