A young mum has been arrested for killing her own four-year-old daughter in a suspected half-botched murder-suicide.
Jacinda Marie Decaro, 26, was arrested for homicide according to a statement by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office in the US state of Florida.
Her daughter Masiela Decaro had been found unresponsive by security personnel in a room at Star Island Resort & Club in Kissimmee on 10th January.
Jacinda was also found unconscious, next to her on the bed.
Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez said in a press conference: “The night of the murder, the suspect talked about suicide to several different people, and told an ex-boyfriend that she didn’t want to live.
“She also FaceTimed another friend the same evening and talked about not wanting to be here.”
He added: “The doors were all locked from the inside when we attempted to make contact with all parties. Tylenol and liquid Benadryl were on the nightstand.”
The young girl was declared dead at the scene and her mum was taken to hospital. Masiela’s cause of death was later ruled as ‘intentional poisoning’.
Lopez said of the mother at the same press conference: “Today we tried to question her, just to see what was her intentions or her mindset. She didn’t want to talk.
“So we don’t know what was going through her mind or what she felt or what she meant by doing what she did… All I know is that there’s a little girl who lost her life…
“If she wanted to take her own life, she could have. She didn’t have to include this four-year-old who hasn’t even begun to live.”
Jacinda was last reported to be held at Oscoela County Jail on no bond. She has been charged with premeditated murder.
She was scheduled to appear before a judge yesterday, but no updates have yet been reported.
