This is the moment police break into a house and rescue a crying eight-year-old boy who was found chained to his bed with his hands behind his back and his mother has now been arrested.

The startling incident took place in the village of Nadine Heredia, in the district of Chiclayo, in the northwestern Peruvian department of Lambayeque after local residents called the police when they heard to boy’s constant screams, according to reports.

In the video, police can be seen working with neighbours to break into the house and they find the eight-year-old boy crying as he sits on the ground with his hands chained to the bed behind him.

The youngster, who has not been named in reports, appears to have been left in his underwear and he can be heard crying as the rescuers look for a handsaw to cut the chains from his wrists.

Reports state the officers eventually found a handsaw to release the boy and the youngster was then taken to a children’s shelter.

The boy’s mother, identified in reports by the initials M.Q.V., 30, was reportedly arrested and sent to the local Norte police station.

Local media report local residents are staging a protest outside the woman’s house calling for the mother to be punished harshly for child abuse.

The neighbours claim the mother had repeatedly hurt her son and left him chained to the bed several times, according to reports.

It is unclear if she has yet been charged.
