Mothers Uncover Makeshift Oven Used To Incinerate Human Bodies

This is the moment a group known as the ‘Searching Mothers Collective of Jalisco’ discovers a clandestine crematorium used to incinerate human remains.

They immediately alerted the authorities, but prosecutors astonishingly declined to investigate, with cops suddenly showing up later to take pictures and record the searching mothers instead of the evidence, according to reports.

The group discovered the makeshift oven in the Artesanos neighbourhood of Tlaquepaque, in the Mexican state of Jalisco, on Sunday, 10th October.

One member of the group said: “It is basically a cemetery, and we cannot imagine the magnitude of how many bodies could have been burned here, as charred bones were scattered everywhere.”

They confirmed that the remains were human and reportedly identified teeth and various other human bones.

In the footage, smoke can still be seen emanating from the oven, and the women noted it was still hot, with locals suggesting it had been active for about two days.

The group had previously located the site and reported the issue before this second discovery.

The Mexican Army and the Jalisco Police initially protected the area, but illegal activities continued there after the military agencies stopped monitoring the site.

This second time, an anonymous call led the Searching Mothers to the location, as they noticed smoke in the area.

One of the women in the group said: “We are here searching in a place the prosecutor said they wouldn’t come, and neither would SEMEFO, the corpse identification service.

“The units have already withdrawn simply because there are no skulls or torsos, but the bones we found are human. I don’t know what more evidence they want.”

Sites like these are understood to be used by cartels and other illegal organisations to dispose of bodies.

The group has called for an exhaustive analysis of the remains by the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences and Forensic Anthropology, emphasising the need for a thorough investigation.

They also expressed concern that the authorities do not seem to be taking the discovery seriously.

But the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Missing Persons (FEPD) has now reportedly initiated an investigation to determine the origin of the remains found at the burn site.

The FEPD said: “In an open piece of land used as a rubbish dump, an area was found containing skeletal remains on Monday, 16th October.”

They said they were working with the Jalisciense Institute of Forensic Sciences to determine if the remains are of human origin.

Over the past two and a half years, the number of unidentified deceased individuals in Jalisco has surged by 44 per cent, reaching 9,002 cases by May 2023.

The statistic reveals a growing forensic crisis that the authorities are reluctant to acknowledge, according to reports.
