This man has been arrested for stabbing the teenage mother of his two-year-old daughter to death in front of the tot as she screamed her mum’s name.

The shocking murder took place in the city of San Pedro Sula in the Cortes Department in northern Honduras.

According to local media, 17-year-old victim Angie Mariela Ramos Ramos was meeting her ex-husband Anthony Steven Torres Carranza, 21, in a flat so he could see their two-year-old daughter.

Local media report Carranza had allegedly been deported from Mexico back to Honduras and was staying at a friend’s flat.

A neighbour told local media: “She supported her daughter by working in a grocery store that belonged to the family because her child’s father did not help her but she could not refuse to let him see her”.

Reports said that residents of the building could hear the couple arguing loudly and they also heard the victim asking for help.

According to witnesses, Torrez Carranza allegedly stabbed Ramos 10 times during a fight after he threatened to take their child away. Their daughter was reportedly in front of them screaming her mother’s name at the time.

Reports state neighbours called the police who arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect when he tried to jump from the third floor to escape.

The body of the victim was reportedly found on the floor already dead.

The family reportedly told the Honduras Investigative Police (DPI) they knew she had gone out to meet her former husband and the pair had not seen each other for two years.

Local authorities transferred the body to the morgue where it will be examined while the case is being investigated.

It is unclear if the suspect has been charged.
