This is the shocking moment a young man is gunned down inside a barbershop while pleading for his life in what appears to be a targeted killing, the motive of which remains a mystery.

CCTV footage shows the moment two men on a motorbike pull up on a street on which 27-year-old Tiago Martins da Silva is sat on a plastic chair.

The man riding pillion is then seen getting off the motorbike, drawing a handgun, and firing at the young man, as he frantically tries to run away.

Tiago is then seen bursting through the door of a barbershop, startling the three men already inside.

He is seen lying on the floor and putting up his hand as if to plead for his life. However, the man standing over him spares him no mercy and continues to fire bullets into his body.

The perpetrator then runs back to his accomplice waiting for him on the street, gets back onto the motorbike, and the pair then ride away.

The incident took place in the neighbourhood of Cavalhada in the municipality of Caceres in the west-central Brazilian state of Mato Grosso on the night of Tuesday, 10th August.

According to the police, the suspect used two different firearms to shoot the victim, who was rescued by emergency services and taken to hospital still alive before dying shortly after being admitted.

His body was taken for a post-mortem examination and later handed over to his family.

It was the second homicide committed in the space of just 10 days on the same street.

The police are investigating the case. At the time of reporting, the identities of those believed to be behind the killings, and the motive, were not known.
