The footage shows explosions on the battlefield as the Ukrainian tanks pummel the Russian positions.

The images, apparently shot from a drone, then show the Ukrainian tanks advancing and repeatedly opening fire.

The images obtained from the 63rd Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On Tuesday, 23rd January, along with a statement saying: “The tanks of the 63rd brigade conducted a lightning counterattack and smashed the enemy’s positions! An incredible sight!”

The images and statement were also relayed by the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Wednesday, 24th January.

Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a “special military operation.” Today marks the 700th day of the full-scale war.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 24th January 2024. Russia had lost approximately 378,660 personnel, 6,227 tanks, 11,579 armoured combat vehicles, 9,008 artillery units, 971 multiple launch rocket systems. 659 air defence systems, 331 warplanes, 324 helicopters, 6,998 drones, 1,842 cruise missiles, 23 warships, 1 submarine, 12,005 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 1,416 units of special equipment.

The Turkish Parliament voted on Tuesday to ratify Sweden’s membership to join the Western alliance and become its 32nd member after over a year of delays that have put pressure on its ties with its Western allies.

The Parliament will ratify the decision after the successful vote, which saw 287 votes in favour against 55 votes against the Nordic country joining the alliance.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that he has invited the Swedish Prime Minister to visit and negotiate his country’s accession to the military alliance.

At least 18 people have been killed and over 130 have been wounded following a massive Russian airstrike on Ukraine on Tuesday, according to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky said that the raids primarily targeted the country’s two biggest cities, Kyiv and Kharkiv.

The Ukrainian president said that over 200 sites were hit including 139 homes.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, has said that his country’s Western allies are not supplying Kyiv with enough ammunition and air defence missiles.

He said that the Russian attacks on Kyiv and Kharkiv on Tuesday “clearly show the need to provide more anti air defence systems, as well as more surface-to-air missiles.”

He also said that there were ammunition shortages on the ground as well, saying that “insufficient quantities of artillery munitions has been a problem from the start.”

He said that he was in talks with the German government about receiving Taurus cruise missiles, despite the low house of the German parliament voting against delivering them last week.

Germany’s Finance Minister Christian Lindner has said that his country cannot keep up with Ukraine’s defence requirements on its own and that it needs to increase bilateral contributions.

The Baltic states and Poland have reportedly called for a ban on imports of Russian aluminium and liquefied natural gas as part of the European Union’s 13th sanctions package.
