This is the moment a teenage boy is electrocuted while trying to jump from a bridge to a train to take a selfie and hitting the high-voltage overhead wires instead.

The incident took place at the train station in Focsani, which is a city in Vrancea County, in eastern Romania.

The footage shows the 16-year-old boy on a footbridge that runs across the railway lines. He was reportedly accompanied by a group of friends, who warned him of the danger, but he did not listen.

The boy managed to get onto the walkway despite the fact that it had reportedly been being closed for several years, and he can be seen dangling down from the footbridge when tragedy struck.

As people film from beside the tracks, an explosion can be suddenly heard as a flash of light and a shower of sparks erupt from where the boy was located on the footbridge.

The teenager, who has not been named, was from the village of Unirea-Odobesti and he was a student in the 8th grade at School No. 3 in Focsani.

Railway police were notified about the incident and quickly arrived at the scene. The 16-year-old was reportedly found dead and there was nothing that could be done other than recover his body charred. Footage of the incident was reportedly shared online by the mother of one of his friends.

The young man leaves behind his parents and a three-year-old sibling.
