This is the moment a sacrificial bull attacks a 61-year-old man and knocks him to the ground four days before he succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Bilal Baylan, who lived in the district of Carsamba in the northern Turkish province of Samsun, was helping his neighbour to prepare to slaughter a sacrificial bull on the first day of the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha on 20th July when he was knocked to the ground.

Eid al-Adha is one of the two official Islamic holidays honouring Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael to obey to God’s command before a lamb was provided to sacrifice instead. Every year animals are sacrificed on the holiday to commemorate this.

Bilal and his neighbours reportedly blindfolded the bull and tied it to the back of a tractor. The spooked animal suddenly began to move as the ropes were being tied around its body.

The bull broke free and knocked Bilal to the ground before falling over itself.

In the footage, the 61-year-old man is seen falling backwards and hitting the ground hard.
