Lucky Man Survives Shark Attack In Exact Spot Where Urinating Bather Was Killed By Shark 14 Days Earlier

This is the moment a man is tended to on the beach after being attacked by a shark just 15 days after another man was fatally attacked by a shark after going into the water at the same spot to urinate.

Footage taken at the scene shows beach goers crowding around the injured 32-year-old man as first-aiders tend to him.

The footage was filmed on Piedade Beach in the Brazilian city of Jaboatao dos Guararapes on Sunday, 25th July.

According to the fire brigade, victim Everton dos Reis Guimaraes was squatting in shallow waters when the attack took place.

He suffered injuries to the back of his left thigh and buttock and was taken to a local hospital where he received treatment.

He was then transferred to another hospital in the nearby city of Recife in a stable condition, where he underwent surgery. At the time of reporting, he was recovering in hospital.

The incident took place on a stretch of beach where another 13 shark attacks have been recorded. Seven of those attacks were fatal, making Everton one of the ‘lucky’ ones.

One of the less fortunate encounters had taken place just 15 days beforehand, when a shark bit off the hand of 51-year-old Marcelo Rocha Santos and also took a chunk out of his thigh.

Marcelo had been drinking alcohol on the beach with his pals and went into the sea to urinate when the fatal attack took place.

Despite various signs along the beach warning people not to enter the sea, the stretch of coast is a shark-attack hotspot, as it is open and unprotected by reefs.
