This is the moment two gunmen shoot dead an ex-cop over 10 times – including repeatedly in his head – outside a popular city restaurant.

The incident was filmed at an unnamed seafood restaurant in the city of Guayaquil located in the western Ecuadorian province of Guayas when 44-year-old Jorge Fernando Lino Macas was dining with two friends.

In the footage, two gunmen are seen approaching the trio sitting on a table outside the restaurant before apparently unloading their weapons into the victim’s head.

According to prosecutor Stalyn Coca, the suspects arrived on a motorbike and identified the target before shooting him at least 10 times, mostly in the head.

The gunmen then managed to escape and the victim died on the spot, according to reports.

Lino Macas used to be a special services cop, but left the position for unknown reasons.

He then set up his own security firm and also joined popular salsa band Promedio 20 as a vocalist.

In October 2018, he was reportedly arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking, but was declared innocent by a court on 23rd August last year.

Prosecutors then launched an appeal which was due to get underway on 20th February.

The police are investigating the possibility that he was killed by rivals over his alleged links to drug trafficking.

The investigation is ongoing.
