This is the moment a cop is filmed opening fire on a man who fought him off during an arrest for breaking Argentina’s coronavirus lockdown.

The incident took place in the city of Cordoba in the province with the same name in central Argentina and was filmed by an onlooker.

The footage shows the officer standing over a suspect on the ground while he tries to carry out an arrest for breaking the lockdown declared in the country on 19th March.

The policeman is seen holding his gun with one hand while he tries to immobilise the man on the ground.

However, the suspect then manages to escape from the cop who then fires a shot in the direction the man ran away.

The police officer has been arrested. Reports said that the local Tribunal of Police Behaviour intervened to suspend the officer temporarily as he will have to undergo psychological tests.

The man who was shot at was not injured and it is unclear if he was eventually arrested.

According to the latest data from the Johns Hopkins University, there are 1,133 people infected by the coronavirus in Argentina with 33 deaths and 248 people recovered while the lockdown has been extended until 14th April.
