This is the moment a worker glued to his phone plunges into a factory basement.

CCTV footage of the slip shows the worker pulling out his phone and beginning to talk.

Then he can be seen walking to the far end of the room at the seedling-producing plant before turning around and heading back.

But he suddenly stepped on a loose metal panel covering a hole in the floor and disappears from sight as he falls into the basement.

Two other workers come rushing in before one of them runs back out to call an ambulance and the police.

Two more workers then come rushing in as the footage ends.

The incident took place when the worker, who has been named only as YCB, was on a video call at the factory in Tarsus, Turkey, on 16th November.

The worker was reportedly seriously injured in the incident, which took place in the engine room, and taken to hospital.

Images of the rescue show firefighters lifting the victim out of the hole using a rope and a stretcher.

There have been no further updates on YCB’s condition but it is understood that he is continuing to receive treatment in hospital.
