Marie Sophie Radskopp, 14, was reported missing by her family after she left her home and stopped responding to calls at around 6.30pm on Wednesday evening, 27th September.

Cops instantly initiated a search to locate her, describing her as being 170-centimetre tall (5.6 inches), fit, and with shoulder-length brown hair.

They had even used drones to find the teenager who was reportedly wearing a black sweater, white trousers, and a pair of white Nike Air Force sneakers at the time she went missing.

Her personal belongings were found in a forest area at around 4.30pm in Bad Emstal, Hesse State, Germany, the next day, on Thursday evening, 28th September.

She was found dead at the same location about an hour later at 5.30pm.

North Hesse Police Headquarters – Kassel spokesperson Matthias Maenz said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “The fear that it could be the student was unfortunately confirmed on site.

“Our colleagues on-site are sure that it is the missing 14-year-old.

“Unfortunately, an emergency doctor was ultimately only able to determine her death.

“The site is now largely cordoned off to secure evidence. The criminal police have started investigations on site.”

Her mum Christina Tina Radskopp also confirmed the tragic news on her Facebook profile, and said: “My daughter was just found dead, the search is over.”

Police meanwhile said: “The public search for the 14-year-old from Bad Emstal is being withdrawn.”

Cops said: “The cause of death is currently unclear. Third-party negligence cannot be ruled out at this time.

“In view of the ongoing forensic investigation, further findings will probably not be announced until tomorrow, Friday.”

Sophie Marie’s body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute of the University of Giessen for an autopsy.

Meanwhile, police seized an e-bike parked not far from where her body was found, but they did not disclose how it was related to the girl’s death for ‘tactical reasons’.

The investigation continues.
