Miracle As Woman, 85, Crashes Mercedes Into Living Room With Family Of Five

A dad has labelled it a “miracle” after an 85-year-old OAP crashed her Mercedes into his living room and none of his three children were injured despite being in the room at the time.

The home in a quiet Hamburg suburb is now in danger of collapsing after the elderly woman crashed her Mercedes A-Class straight into the living room narrowly avoiding the family of five.

The family, two parents and three children, escaped unharmed despite being in the living room at the time of the incident.

A firefighter who responded to the scene said: “A whole company of Guardian Angels must have been on duty here for nothing worse to have happened.”

The incident took place in Lurup, which is a district in the northern German city of Hamburg at around 10 AM on the morning of 13th October.

The 85-year-old woman behind the wheel, named in German daily Bild only as Ingrid F. due to strict local privacy laws, is alleged to have veered off the street in the otherwise quiet German suburb before shooting straight through a hedge and ploughing across a front garden before crashing through a brick wall and into the homeowner’s living room.

The German daily reported that a large contingent of police officers and firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

As can be seen from the images, there is currently a huge hole in the homeowner’s living room wall.

Witnesses said the OAP had been driving a Mercedes A-Class and that it hit a courier delivery vehicle before shooting through the hedge, according to the German daily.

The driver appears to have lost control of the vehicle after having hit the van, with the elderly driver pressing on the accelerator instead of the brake.

The driver has reportedly been seriously injured in the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital after having been treated at the scene by responding paramedics.

The Fire Brigade then towed the vehicle out of the homeowner’s living room.

Jan Ole Unger from the Hamburg Fire Brigade told the German daily: “At the time of the accident, the family of five was in the living room.”

All five escaped injury. They have not been named but the family are said to be made up of the parents, as well as their two daughters aged 1 and 5, and their 7-year-old son.

The firefighter added: “The father had just grabbed the one-year-old child when the woman drove the car through the wall. A whole company of Guardian Angels must have been on duty here so that nothing more happened.”

The damage to the property is said to be “immense”.

The father, who has not been named but who is 41 years old, said: “Look at that, everything is destroyed. It is a miracle that we are still alive.”

He added: “I had just kissed my one-year-old daughter and wanted to go to work. Then it hit! I grabbed my daughter and my family got to safety.”

A structural engineer is set to determine if the house is still habitable and the police are currently investigating the incident.
