The woman – identified only by her first name Emily because of local privacy laws – often shared selfies on social media.

But she died when they took snaps on a live train track in the town of Wiesloch, in the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Emily – who had learning difficulties – was killed instantly by a train speeding down the track towards Germersheim.

Police say that because of poor light, neither she nor her boyfriend saw the train in time.

Even though the driver applied the emergency brakes, he was unable to stop in time.

Her boyfriend – who was not injured – was standing shocked alongside the tracks as the tragedy unfolded.

Her mother Melanie said she was devastated at the news and hit out at social media trolls for mocking Emily for having learning difficulties.

She wrote: “My big girl, I can’t believe it. Your brother (Jayden) is always asking for you. I told him that you were in heaven and that you will always be watching down and looking after us.

“He misses your good night stories and how you always take the teddy bear at the end.”

She added: “We miss you in every way possible, I love you so much. It is so empty without you.”

Speaking about what happened, she said Emily suffered from a psychomotor developmental disorder, which made her appear clumsier and slower in developing than other youngsters.

She claimed Emily would never have dreamed of posing on train tracks and blamed her boyfriend for the idea.
