Metro Train Stops Just Feet From Drunk Lying On Tracks

This footage shows an allegedly drunk man lying on metro train tracks as shocked witnesses watch a blaring train pull into the station before it stops mere feet from him.

The incident took place at People’s Square station, which is on Line 2 of the Shanghai Metro in East China, on the morning of 29th November.

The public transport provider said the commuter surnamed Wang, 37, scaled the platform barriers and leapt onto the empty tracks.

The man, who the authorities said was drunk, lay on the tracks as a train pulled into the station.

Footage taken by witnesses shows them shouting at the man to move as the train’s horn can be heard and its light are seen approaching the station.

Other commuters can be seen frantically waving at the approaching train in order to stop the driver.

The train stopped about 6 feet from the man, who then stood up and climbed back onto the platform before being arrested by police.

Shanghai Metro said no one was harmed during the incident, which caused a delay of about five minutes.

Wang was jailed for 10 days for the drunken public order offence.
