A stunned Argentine football fan has found the image of legendary striker Diego Maradona on the skin of a potato he was about to cook.

Twitter user ‘Kmikaze’, who comes from the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, shared a snap of the discovery on Twitter, where it has been widely circulated by netizens.

He posted the photo with the caption: “Please tell me you see the same as me.”

Kmikaze also posted an emoji of the Argentine national flag, as well as a heart.

Many netizens agreed that the mark on the potato resembled the iconic footballer and shared memes and their own edited take on the footie-themed spud.

Since the Argentine World Cup winner died in November 2020, many fans claim to still see Maradona’s image in unusual places and share photos on social media.

One video of a cloud formation in the night sky went viral shortly after the diminutive footballer’s passing.

The video was filmed by Natali Rios, 26, from the city of Parana, in the Argentine province of Entre Rios, in the early hours of 28th November 2020.

She said she noticed the cloud formation after watching a documentary on Diego Maradona, 60, following his death on 25th November.

The video and images show what appears to be a silhouette of Maradona created by the contrast of the night sky and the clouds.

The silhouette appears to have Maradona’s characteristic hair and is holding up both arms as if celebrating a goal.

The number 10 – the star’s soccer shirt number – is momentarily seen just under the moon before the clouds move.

Natali said she did not initially see the silhouette and was told by a friend after she posted the video on social media.

She later said: “Maybe we miss him so much that we see anything now? I don’t know, but it is still magic.”
