Cops are seeking a man for murder after he shot his girlfriend in the back of the head seconds after cracking open a beer, leaving her four kids without a mum.

Pretty manicurist Arlete Almeida Silva, 33, died after she was shot twice, once in the back of the head and once in the right leg, on the afternoon of Wednesday, 3rd November.

The alleged crime took place at the house of a friend of Arlete and her boyfriend in the city of Goiania in the Brazilian state of Goias.

The police say the prime suspect is the victim’s boyfriend of one year and four months, 46-year-old Francivaldo Alves Braz.

According to farm labourer and witness Paulo Joaquim, Francivaldo fired the shots out of the blue.

He told the news portal G1: “He arrived in his car and handed her a can of beer and took one himself. He then pulled out a pistol and opened fire. They hadn’t been arguing. They arrived here peacefully.”

The police say the suspect then fled the scene. At the time of the last update on 3rd November, he had not been located.

By the time paramedics arrived on the crime scene, the victim was dead. She leaves behind four children, the youngest of whom is eight years old.

No suspected motive for the crime was divulged by the police or reported in local media.

The Civil Police (Brazil’s investigative police force) will investigate the case.
