This father has been charged with killing the mother of his two children by hitting her in the head with an axe before burying her alive in their garden.

The body of Lorena Elizabeth Quilogran, 37, was found buried at her home in the municipality of Ascension, in the eastern Argentina province of Buenos Aires where she lived with her boyfriend Horacio Ramon Baez, 49.

A cousin of the victim had reported her missing, saying her family had not heard from her and officers interviewed Baez who said he did not know where his girlfriend was.

A search party was started and local media report that as officers were examining the victim’s house Baez confessed to killing her and showed them where the body was.

Quilogran’s body was reportedly found buried face-down, half-naked in an area covered by wood.

An axe found in the house is believed to be the murder weapon.

Baez was arrested but reportedly refused to give a statement to prosecutors, with chief prosecutor Sergio Terron then ordering he be charged with homicide.

Preliminary reports from an autopsy reportedly showed the victim had suffered an axe blow to the head, a punch to the face and had soil in her lungs seemingly showing she had been buried alive.

The suspect had allegedly been reported for domestic violence in 2007 by a former girlfriend but new partner Quilogran had never filed a complaint during their 10-year relationship.

The victim’s sister Micaela Rosende wrote a message to Baez on social media saying: “How could you do this to my sister you son of a b*tch. Insane, how could you call my mum last night (Tuesday) saying you were shocked about Lorena when you had already murdered her.

“You ruined our lives.”

The couple’s children are reportedly being cared for by an uncle and the investigation is ongoing. No motive has been provided for the crime.
