Cops have arrested a man for killing and chopping up his sleeping friend with scissors, burning his body parts, and drinking his blood in a satanic ritual.
The macabre incident took place in the administrative district of Samambaia in the Federal District in Brazil on Friday, 1st October.
The suspect, whose name and age were not reported, was arrested on Friday, 8th October.
The victim has been named as waste picker Antonio Carlos Pires de Lima, aged 33. According to the police, the suspect and victim were friends.
During questioning, the suspect denied committing the crime. At the time of reporting, he was awaiting a preventive custody hearing.
He has been charged with aggravated murder and concealment of a corpse.
According to reports, the suspect is also a waste picker and lived with the victim. The police believe he committed the murder and dismemberment in the house they shared before taking the body parts to a vacant lot two blocks away where he set fire to them.
Police officers arrived on the crime scene, where they reportedly found bones and charred human remains, following an anonymous tip-off.
They then located the suspect’s house where they found a large quantity of blood in the living room as well as signs of a satanic ritual.
Police chief Rodrigo Carbone said: “We entered the house and immediately saw elements that indicated that there was some kind of cult there, with drawings of 666 and demons on the walls.”
According to the police, the suspect, after committing the crime, fled to a Christian pilgrimage site in a rural part of the administrative district where he begged for food and money.
He was finally arrested close to the crime scene as he made his way back to his house to collect some items.
The suspect was found to have an extensive criminal record for 15 crimes including robberies, thefts, counts of bodily injury, contempt, resisting arrest, non-compliance with temporary leave, and assault committed against his own mother, for which he was kicked out of his family home.
The case is ongoing.
