Man Arrested For Killing Son, 1, By Mistake While Shooting At Rowdy Neighbours

A man has been arrested for killing his 18-month-old toddler son and shooting his lover in the leg when he fired at neighbours because they were boozing and listening to loud music outside his home.

The incident took place in the neighbourhood of 6 de Agosto in the district of Zarate in the eastern Argentine province of Buenos Aires on Wednesday night.

Eyewitnesses told local media that the suspect, named as Sebastian Maximiliano Lopez, 44, was drunk when he confronted a group of neighbours outside his home who were playing loud music and making noise.

During the row, the suspect drew his gun and reportedly opened fire on the group. However, his partner was returning home from the shops with their toddler son and they were both hit by stray bullets.

Little Bastian Estefano Lopez was hit in the face and Rocio Josefina Saldana, 23, was struck in the leg, according to the news site Infobae.

Lopez reportedly said at the scene: “They made me kill my son!”

The emergency services arrived on the scene and detained the suspect, who had reportedly been arrested for threatening behaviour and illegal possession of weapons in the past.

The victims were taken to the Zonal Hospital Virgen del Carmen where the youngster passed away.

The toddler’s mother was shot in the leg but otherwise did not suffer any other life-threatening injuries.

Lopez is believed to be the only shooter at the scene and the police do not currently suspect that a neighbour fired the shots.

The police raided the suspect’s house and seized four firearms, including a .32-caliber Pucara revolver, and a .22-caliber Ruby pistol.

The investigation is ongoing.
