This is the horrific moment a man armed with a golf club was caught on camera launching a brutal attack on a sleeping dog.
The incident was caught on CCTV cameras in the Mong Kok area of the former British colony of Hong Kong in south-eastern China.
The footage begins with the dog asleep on a table outside a grocer’s shop when the man suddenly rushes up and swings at it with his golf club in an apparently unprovoked attack.
The poor dog immediately jumps up in fear and pain and tries to hide underneath the table as the man continues trying to hit it with the club.
He repeatedly swings the club at the animal with all his strength, at one point losing his grip as the club is sent flying.

But the man picks up the club again and continues swinging it at the dog which does its best to keep out of his range.
The dog’s ordeal finally ended when a woman passerby, named as Cheuk, 38, heard the dog’s frightened howls and called the cops.
Police later arrested a 52-year-old man, whose name has not been released, and took the dog to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
The man faces charges of animal cruelty and up to three years in prison and a fine of up to HKD 200,000 (20,200 GBP) if he is convicted.
The video was later shared on social media where it appalled animal lovers such as netizen ‘Porlan Ma’ who said: “Send him to jail.”
‘Henry Chow’ commented: “This is so cruel. I can’t even watch the worst part”, while ‘YoYo Wan’ added: “Hope the dog is not hurt too bad and quickly recovers.”
