Malfunctioning Lift Doors Clamp Two-Year-Old Boy’s Head

This is the terrifying moment a two-year-old boy nearly gets crushed when the lift doors closed on him as he was following his mother

inside.

The incident happened as Ms Cheng and her two young children were returning home to their apartment in Nanning, in southern China’s Guangxi Region at around 3:00 pm on 5th August.

CCTV footage shows Ms Cheng and her daughter entering the lift with her son following behind them.

But as the boy steps foot inside, the doors suddenly close and trap the child’s head.

The shocked mum immediately lunges her left hand and leg between the doors to stop them from closing shut.

With the other hand, she frantically pushes the ‘open’ button while instructing the girl to press the alarm.

After a while, the doors finally open and she quickly pushes the boy out and tells the girl to quickly exit.

Thankfully, no one was seriously injured and Ms Cheng and her son only made away with slight bruising.

Ms Cheng later told local media that this is not the first time the lift caused similar issues.

According to another homeowner, the lifts in that building have frequently malfunctioned ever since they moved in last year.

After the incident, the residential property management company stated that they will notify the maintenance company to repair the lifts.

The director of the maintenance company, surnamed Lu, later claimed there was no issue with the lift’s quality and that the accident was caused by signal interference.

He added that the company would cover the family’s medical expenses.
