These images show how the reformed jailbird turned lottery millionaire Chico gave up on a selfie session with fans to buy a barefoot homeless woman a pair of shoes.
The images show how Kursat Yildirim, 43, who won EUR 10 million (GBP 8.72 million) playing the German lottery last year, spotted the woman sitting in the street with no shoes on.
He was taking selfies with fans at the time and stopped what he was doing to go over and have a chat with her.
Chico can then be seen helping the unnamed woman try on some shoes in a shoe shop.
Chico later shared images of the moment on Instagram with his 871,000 followers, saying “Humanity is not extinct”, but many in the comments suggested that not everything was as it seemed.
One, going by ‘wwalkenhorst’, said: “But does it have to be filmed?”
And ‘berniiiiii_xd’ added: “It’s great, but there’s a begging ring behind it that treats the beggars very badly. Her shoes are taken away and she is punished because she didn’t bring enough money that day, etc…”
While ‘mario.pichler.902’ said: “Pretty clean feet for the fact that she has no shoes”.
And ‘rehphil’ said: “Hi, I know the lady as a patient from the clinic in Dortmund. She definitely owns shoes and doesn’t have to beg for them. As a northern city child, Chico should be aware of this. Viralising something like that emotionally is just as tasteless.”
But others were more supportive, with ‘nesrin1496’ saying: “Filmed so that everyone can learn something from it! Exemplary”.
And ‘ihsan.kilinc.82’ said: “A man with a heart.”
Chico recently featured in a VOX documentary that aired last Friday, on 24th November, where he was seen on holiday in Kenya with his new girlfriend and top cop Candice Newgas, 36.
He said that he was “the happiest person in the world”.
