This is the moment a car carrying five people – including two children – is covered in bricks when two lorries collide near them.

Surveillance footage from the county of Anxi in East China’s Fujian Province shows the moment a heavy goods vehicle hauling a shipment of tens of thousands of bricks collides head-on with another lorry.

In the footage dated 22nd March, the family’s silver SUV is seen stopped by the roadside when the speeding lorry comes barrelling towards them.

The lorry driver fails to brake in time and slams head-on into the second heavy goods vehicle, causing bricks to fall from its trailer and land on the smaller car.

Ms Wang, whose husband was driving the SUV, said there were two children and three adults in the car at the time.

The family of five were able to escape, with video showing them climbing out the car as its roof is crushed with thousands of bricks.

She told local media: “The two children were sitting by the windows. Their heads were covered in glass shards, but fortunately they weren’t injured.”

The drivers of the two lorries are understood to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries as their cabins became mangled in the collision.

The accident was still being investigated at the time of writing.
