A Spanish roadside restaurant has created this self-service food truck offering drinks and snacks for free to lorry drivers so they can keep the country stocked up.

The hotel-restaurant named El Hacho is located on a motorway between the cities of Seville and Malaga in the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain and fitted out the self-service food truck after being forced to close its doors in the coronavirus pandemic.

David Borrego Castellano, one of the owners of the business, told local media: “This got out of our hands. We do not want attention. We have left the truck here for the drivers who are our customers and stop by the whole year.”

The footage shows the self-service bar fitted out in a food truck parked in front of the restaurant with all the drinks and the snacks laid out ready for drivers to help themselves.

A sign can be seen on the restaurant’s shutters that says “we are with the lorry drivers”. A second sign reads “we do not accept money”.

Borrego Castellano added: “We put coffee, water bottles, soft drinks, there and everything is open 24 hours.”

The initiative has reportedly moved netizens who have shared the video on social media and have sent several messages to the restaurant’s Facebook page to thank them for the gesture.

Borrego Castellano told: “We do not have money but we thought we cannot let the drivers down.”
