Light Shows Illuminate 19 Landmarks In UAE For 10 Days

These incredible images of light effects on iconic buildings are wowing residents and visitors of the United Arab Emirates during the 10-day ‘Sharjah Light Festival’.

The festival, featuring light shows and fireworks displays, are reportedly taking place across 19 locations in the Emirate of Sharjah in north-eastern the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over a 10-day period.

The festival highlights the history and heritage of the region and some of Sharjah’s most treasured landmarks are used as ‘canvases’ for the light shows.

The Sharjah Light Festival 2020 started on 5th February and continues until 15th February and this year marks the 10th anniversary since it began.

The festival is organised by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) and the event that celebrates the emirate’s achievements in the fields of education, innovation and knowledge, according to reports.

The locations used for light shows are the American University of Sharjah, Sharjah Mosque, University City Hall, Sharjah Police Academy, University of Sharjah, Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, Al Majaz Waterfront, Masjid Al Noor, Al Qasba, Omran Taryam Square, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Al Hamriyah Area Municipality, Al Wousta TV Building, University of Sharjah (Kalba), House of Justice , Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, and the Masjid Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmad Al Qasimi.

Each landmark will be illuminated between 6pm and 11pm during the week, and 6pm to midnight on weekends.

The light shows are also accompanied by music shows, this year featuring students from the American University of Sharjah and the University of Sharjah.
