Lazy Woman Wins GBP 257 In Idleness Competition After Lying Under A Tree For 5 Days

A woman from Montenegro has won a ‘laziness’ competition after spending 117 hours lying beneath a tree and collecting a GBP 257 prize for her ‘hard work’.

Dubravka “Duda” Aksich, from Podgorica, Montenegro, spent almost five entire days lying down during the ‘idleness championship’ in the village of Brezna in Montenegro yesterday (25th August).

The competition’s objective is not only to test the ability of its competitors to do nothing, but also encourage them to read, drink, eat and have a good time by doing nothing.

Duda won the competition by outlasting her two closes competitors Marko Vukovic and Nikola Boskovic, who were only able to keep themselves from getting up for 115 hours.

Local new site Rtv reports that the competition has been held every year for the past decade with the exception of last year when it was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The rules of the competition dictate competitors must lie in their designated area where they can eat, drink, read or play on their phone, but not get up.

The contestants are only allowed to make one exception and get up very briefly every eight hours to go to the bathroom.

Duda is now the official all-time record holder. She has not said if she will compete next year to hold onto her title as the ‘laziest’ person in Montenegro.
