A man from the USA has set his sights on a new lake house after he won USD 4 million on the lottery.

The 41-year-old lucky winner from Alpena County, in Michigan, USA, could not believe his eyes when he scratched off the USD 4 million (GBP 3,3 million) jackpot.

He reportedly bought his instant Diamond 7s ticket at DerMiner’s Parkside Market, located at 7131 Old US Highway 27 South in the city of Gaylord, in Otsego County.

Ecstatic over the win, the player said in a statement obtained by Newsflash from Michigan Lottery: “I purchase instant game tickets a few times a month and decided to purchase a Diamond 7s ticket while I was at the store.

“When I scratched the ticket and saw I’d won USD 4 million, I started shouting in excitement! I couldn’t believe it.”

He reportedly immediately paid a visit to the lottery’s headquarters in the city of Lansing to collect his prize, where he could choose between a lump sum of USD 2.5 million (GBP 2 million) and 30 annuity payments for the full amount.

After he decided to go for the one-time payment, he claimed that he would use the money to pay the bills and finally fulfil his yearlong dream to buy a lake house.

He added: “Winning is such an incredible feeling and means a lot to me and my family.”

Lottery officials reported that Diamond 7s players have won more than USD 140 million (GBP 116,5 million) after the instant game launched in April 2021.

They said: “Each USD 30 [GBP 25] ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from USD 30 [GBP 25] up to USD 4 million [GBP 3,3 million].

“More than USD 10 million [GBP 8,3 million] in prizes remain, including one USD 15,000 [GBP 12,480] prize, and 29 USD 5,000 [GBP 4,160] prizes.”

Lottery players won more than USD 1.8 billion (GBP 1,5 billion) playing instant games in 2021.
