This footage shows a tiger in a Chinese zoo lying on the ground while a jaguar is carefully massaging its back.
The moment was caught on camera by employees at a zoo in Huzhou, a city in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang.
Staff from the zoo told local media that the jaguar and the tiger have become quite close since they ended up living together in the same enclosure.
That was illustrated when they saw and filmed the jaguar gently massaging the tiger with its front paws the way domestic cats are often seen ‘making biscuits’ – and the relaxed tiger seemed to be enjoying it.
The jaguar’s name is Bao Bao, according to a zookeeper.
It was born and raised at the enclosure with five Bengali tigers, and they have developed a great relationship.
Although tigers and jaguars are not known to be very friendly with each other in the wild, that is clearly not the case with this pair of snugglers.
They have lived in zoos since they were young, so they do not necessarily have the strong basic instincts that wild animals have.
After the video made its way on Douyin – the Chinese version of TikTok – netizens have not been able to stop poking fun at the hard-working jaguar.
Users have joked and made comments about the jaguar needing money, or that it wanted to get on the tiger’s good side since it is much bigger and stronger.
