This is the horrific moment a runaway lorry smashes through a home killing a mother and her six-year-old daughter in Brazil.
CCTV footage of the terrifying crash shows the double articulated lorry careering around a bend at high speed and ploughing straight into the building.
It appears to be unable to stop and simply drives straight ahead before disappearing in a cloud of smoke and dust leaving long skid marks on the tarmac.
The victims have been named by local police as Daniela Barbosa Caires, 24, and her daughter Jhulya Sophia Barbosa Santos.
They died when the heavily laden lorry – filled with bags of cement – rammed into their house in Ituacu, Bahia State on 27th November.
The incident also reportedly injured three other people – who have not been named – when the lorry hit two other houses as well as the home of the young mum and her daughter.
The survivors were taken to the Municipal Hospital of Ituacu. There has been no update on their status.
The local police said that they were at the scene and had begun to remove the rubble with the help of local residents.
The driver, who has not been named, gave a statement at the Territorial Police Station (DT) of Ituacu and was released.
The police investigation into the incident is ongoing. It is currently unclear if the brakes on the lorry failed.
