This is the chilling moment a three-year-old girl was almost crushed by a refrigerator after it fell on top of her when she opened the door.

CCTV footage of the drama shows the youngster reaching up to open the door of a chiller cabinet at her family’s restaurant in the city of Fuyang, Anhui Province, central China, on 20th November.

As she pulls on the handle the seven-feet-tall fridge lurches forward and seems certain to crush her.

But as the cabinet topples over its door props it up for a few seconds allowing the girl’s dad to rush forward and stop it falling on top of her.

The video of the scary scene was later shared on Douyin – the Chinese version of TikTok – where netizens put the blame on the badly designed refrigerator.

User ‘Mutong Kangshi And Xueyuan Glasses’ said: “The current refrigerator design is unreasonable, a glass door is heavier than the entire refrigerator!”

And user ‘Fancy World And Why Seriously’ wrote: “Looking after children is the most tiring and thankless job in the world! If you look good, no one will praise you, and if you look bad, you won’t forgive yourself.”
