Jailbird multimillionaire Chico has warned two new EUR 22.5 million lottery winners to watch out for fake friends.
Kursat ‘Chico’ Yildirim from the city of Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia State, Germany, hit the front pages when he won EUR 9.9 million (GBP 8.72 million) on 24th September last year.
After a year of the life-changing win, the 42-year-old ex-crane operator had some wise words of advice for a pair of players who recently scooped EUR 22.5 million (GBP 19,4 million) each.
Chico told German newspaper Bild: “They were lucky as well, just like me.”
Warning the new winners against fake friends, he added: “They shouldn’t tell everyone that they won something. Suddenly there will be so many people at the door.”
The EUR 45 million (GBP 39 million) jackpot was awarded to the two players after it reached its maximum limit, but no player had matched all seven numbers correctly on the drawing on Saturday, 30th September.
Lotto Lower Saxony said: “Since no player won in prize category 1, the jackpot amount was added to the next lower prize category 2.
“Both participants from Lower Saxony and Hesse had these six winning numbers 1, 17, 20, 36, 42, and 45 .
“They now share the jackpot and each receives exactly EUR 22.5 million [GBP 19.4 million].”
When asked about how he believes they should spend the money, the former drug addict and convicted robber, said: “They should definitely invest more than half in real estate.
“They should definitely treat themselves to something, they should live simply, drive nice cars, go on nice vacations, really treat themselves to everything.”
The son of hard-working Turkish migrant parents advised them to never invest in cryptos and added: “You can’t see it, you can’t touch it.
“They should really think about it before they take a step, they should think a thousand times.”
Chico reportedly went on a massive shopping spree after last year’s win and splashed out on a GBP 392,000 V8 Ferrari 448 Pista and a GBP 178,000 Porsche Turbo S Cabriolet.
He also bought an armful of designer watches from luxury stores like Rolex, Prada, Gucci, and Versace, and lavish apartments in Germany and Istanbul.
The 42-year-old man even invested in a nut farm and lavished tens of thousands on gifts for his family and friends.
He recently made headlines after he got himself a new red-head police chief inspector girlfriend, named Candace N., 36, whom he fell for when she pulled him over.
Chico said: “I fell in love with Candice right away, the red hair, the freckles, her amazing body – I can’t get enough of her.
“She has a big heart, radiates so much humanity. She is self-confident and has both feet firmly on the ground. I can rely on her 100 per cent.”
