This is the moment Italian firefighters give oxygen to a cat that was stuck under a car bonnet on a hot day.

The incident took place in the early afternoon when the day way at it’s warmest, and workers noticed a cat’s meows coming from under the bonnet of a parked car on Savena Street in the city of Pianoro in the province of Bologna in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna.

According to the newspaper La Stampa, the workers immediately called the emergency services and firefighters arrived on the scene to rescue the cat and give it oxygen to help it recover.

In the video, a firefighter is seen holding the cat’s head while an oxygen mask is placed over its little face.

Meanwhile, a colleague prods the feline’s body to try to get a response.

The firefighter in the background says: “Let’s call the office and say we need a vet.”

The cat is seen breathing faintly while making quiet meow sounds.

The fire brigade said on Facebook that the animal recovered well and was taken to the Cat Oasis of Pianoro shelter.

Facebook user ‘Pirone Orazio’ said: “It was fantastic, God bless you.”
