INFERNO: Intense Fire Burns Through Parking Garage, Destroys Over 20 Vehicles

Firefighters worked long and hard to douse the high-rising flames of a fire that tore through the parking garage of an apartment building and destroyed more than 20 vehicles.

Newsflash obtained the footage from the Chicago Fire Department (CFD), along with a statement that said at least 22 vehicles were damaged in an extra-alarm fire in Chicago in the US state of Illinois.

The fire broke out in a one-story parking garage of an apartment building, fire officials said.

It started out in one car and quickly spread to other cars and the roof, causing it to collapse, the CFD reported.

In the footage, the fire can be seen still going strong, with thick plumes of smoke rising to the sky as firefighters on the ground attempt to smother it in water.

Nearby trees appear completely scorched by the blaze as intense flames keep burning down the brick structure.

No injuries have been reported.

Petrol and other materials probably fuelled the immense fire even further, the CFD said.

The cause is currently under investigation.
