This is the moment an Indian MP tries to show off his batting skills on a cricket pitch and ends up flat on his face after taking a wild swing at a ball.
Bhupinder Singh, 72, a member of India’s Upper House of Parliament, had been on an official visit promoting a new sports programme in Kalahandi, in the eastern state of Odisha.
But when he stepped up to the crease to test his skills he was nearly out cold for a duck when the stunt went horribly wrong.
Video footage of the moment, shared on social media on X on 29th December, shows Singh taking a guard as he stands in front of the wicket with a huge crowd around him.
But as the bowler lobs in a very slow ball straight at Singh’s bat he swings so hard he spins off his feet and lands flat on his face.
As he hits the ground and then holds his hand to his injured face, horrified spectators run to help as the footage ends.
