A man whose brother took a bullet meant for him has been seized by police after posing as a beautiful woman on social media to lure his killer into a trap.

Suspect Anderson Johan Pineda Penaranda had been shot at during a fight over a girl at a party in Colombia.

But his brother Jhonier Leandro died instead when he jumped in front of Pineda to protect him.

Pineda, 38, hatched the bizarre revenge plot after hearing that the gunman – Sergio Ivan Salazar Diaz – had been released after 12 years in jail for manslaughter.

He created a fake profile on a social networking site posing as an attractive woman to get Salazar’s attention.

And in just days, he had set up a meeting with his brother’s killer.

They arranged to meet in Cucuta, Norte de Santander Department, on 2nd December.

But as he arrived at the rendezvous, Salazar realised he had fallen into a trap.

Instead of the beautiful woman he had met online, there were two men waiting on a motorcycle.

Salazar tried to run but died when one of the men – identified as Pineda by police – got off the bike, drew a firearm, and shot him twice.

Police arrested him in Cucuta on 11th January, more than a month after the shooting.

Pineda is now remanded in custody as investigations continue.

The Colombian Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “A prosecutor from the Cucuta Life Unit (Norte de Santander) has prosecuted Anderson Johan Pineda Peaaranda, 38, as allegedly responsible for the crime of aggravated homicide before a supervisory judge.

“The events under investigation took place on 2nd December on a public road in Cucuta’s Olga Teresa neighbourhood, where the accused wounded Sergio Ivan Salazar Diaz with a firearm, causing his death.

“According to investigations, the Prosecutor’s Office has demonstrated that the attack was apparently carried out to avenge the murder of the accused’s brother by the victim in 2008.

“It has been demonstrated through information provided by next of kin that the victim was lured through a social network to the place where the events took place.

“In preliminary hearings, the accused did not submit to the charges and the judge has imposed a measure of custodial confinement in a prison.

“It should be noted that the victim had been free for a year, after serving a 12-year prison sentence for the events that took place in 2008.”
