Huge Planes Drop Water 105 Times On Waste Plant Fire

Firefighters in Italy have been working for 24 hours straight with planes carrying out 105 water drops to control a huge fire that broke out at a waste company.

The incident was reported in Squillace, an ancient town and comune, in the southern Italian Province of Catanzaro, in Calabria on Sunday 4th October.

According to national newspaper Catanzaro Informa, four teams have been working tirelessly to control the fire which broke out on the premises of a company that operates in the waste recovery and treatment sector.

The fire started in an external area of ​​the company, involving bales of paper and other types of waste which caught fire, also burning a shed on the premises.

Images taken of the event show large orange flames which have engulfed the premises, and little later fire trucks can be seen arriving and further footage shows planes swooping over the area covering the fire in water.

During their work, one firefighter was injured, according to local news outlet CN24, saying that he had to be taken to hospital for treatment.

By the evening, the fire had reportedly been controlled and put out.
