This is the moment police officers seize a huge cannabis plant from a house that was disguised to look like a decorated Christmas tree.

The incident took place at a private property in the municipality of Serra in the south-eastern Brazilian state of Espirito Santo when the police arrived in response to a domestic disturbance.

According to local media, the suspect was at the house, which belongs to his ex wife, to pick up their four-year-old daughter, but the mother refused and an argument took place on the doorstep.

The police arrived on the scene to calm down the parents before accompanying the unnamed man to his nearby home.

While at the man’s property, cops noticed a huge decorated cannabis plant there.

Police spokesperson William Alcantara said: “Looking more closely, we realised it wasn’t a typical pine tree, but a two-metre (6.5-foot) tall cannabis plant that was completely decorated!”

The man was arrested along with his housemate and a woman whose names were not reported.

During questioning, the father reportedly claimed that he had been growing the plant for six months to make his family happy.

He also asked the police if he could have his plant’s Christmas decorations back, according to local media.

Reports said the three suspects were charged and later released ahead of the trial.

Meanwhile, the seized cannabis plant was sent to be analysed before being destroyed, according to local media.
