Russian prankster Edward Bil has been given house arrest for 2 years after being found guilty of an accident that left his victim in a wheelchair.
Blogger Bil, 25, caused an accident on the Garden Ring in Moscow city, Russia, three months ago, in April 2021.
The Audi RS 6 sports car under Bil’s control collided with several other vehicles. In the accident of one of her victims, the driver of a Volkswagen car identified as 40-year-old woman Maria Artyomova was seriously injured.
Presnensky District Court in Moscow gave the blogger two years and also banned him from driving for three years on 14th July.
Now the young man cannot leave his place of permanent residence from 8pm to 8am. Also, he cannot travel outside Moscow and the region without notifying the supervisory authority.
According to Bil, it would not have been easier for anyone if they had put him in jail.
He said: “It will be much easier and better if they understand me and I will understand them. This is how a person corrects himself. I am 25 years old, I am still young, I have my whole life ahead. Don’t make these mistakes guys. Basically, I ruined my life now.”
Maria Artyomova, who suffered major injuries to her legs in the accident said she was satisfied with the court’s decision and she is not going to complain about it.
She said: “I agree and I’m not complaining about this verdict, because I think it’s quite fair. Most importantly, I really hope he will learn from everything that happened. And more importantly, he will be with his family.”
Maria confirmed that Bil reimbursed her for all damages after the terrible accident.
The woman also noticed that after the accident, her life changed a lot as she still can’t walk and uses a wheelchair. She also needs a replacement hip.
The victim explained: “Rehabilitation is only the first part, preparation for endoprosthetic (an artificial device to replace a missing bodily part that is implanted in the body). “
If the operation is a success doctors are optimistic that she will eventually be able to walk again.
