This is the moment a horse runs for its life and it sprints down the tracks just inches front of a speeding train as the driver blasts the horn in a bid to warn the terrified creature.

The incident took place near Karatekin village in Cankiri province in central Turkey and was recorded by the unnamed train driver after he spotted the horse standing on the tracks.

In the video, the driver can be heard sounding the horn to try to scare the horse out of the way but the frightened animal instead begins sprinting down the tracks in front of the train.

The driver slows down to try to avoid running over the horse and animal then passes in front of his cabin and appears to make it off the tracks in the nick of time.

Local media report the horse was not injured in the incident and netizens loved the clip, with ‘Abuzer Demet’ commenting: “Well done horse, it ran away smoothly.”

And ‘Ahmet Yalniz’ added: “The owner of the horse should be punished.”

While ‘Murat Karapicak’ wrote: “It seems like a high-quality horse, luckily it escaped an accident.”

It is unclear who the horse belongs to.
