This is the moment a woman jumps off the roof of a building and safely lands on an inflatable rescue cushion below.
Firefighters and police were called to the six-storey residential building in the village of Liujiawan, which is in Suide County in North China’s Shanxi Province, on 23rd October.
According to the fire service, passers-by noticed the woman dressed in red landing on the building’s roof, walking back and forth by the parapet.
Local authorities were sent to the roof to speak to the woman, while firefighters inflated a rescue cushion on the ground below in case she fell or jumped.
Video taken by witnesses shows the woman, who has yet to be named, running up to the parapet but stopping short of jumping, appearing to change her mind.
She walks back onto the rooftop and runs for the ledge a second time, this time climbing over and jumping from the roof.
The woman plunges down the side of the building but lands in the centre of the large rescue cushion, which bounces up as the woman survives the fall.
She is later stretchered away and reportedly taken to a local hospital.
Local authorities said they were still unclear as to the woman’s identity or her motives at the time of writing.
Investigations are ongoing.
