This is the moment a runaway car rolls down a hill and crashes into two shops after the owner forgets to put on the handbrake before getting out to withdraw crash.

The freak accident happened in the county of Leibo in China’s south-western Sichuan Province, where the owner Nie had stopped on the side of Donghuan Road in order to use an ATM.

But Nie, who was identified only by his surname, did not close his door and left the engine running too after getting out to withdraw money on 30th April.

Traffic camera footage shows his SUV rolling right down the road and slamming into an advertising business, forcing a group of staff members to jump out the way.

Bizarrely, the SUV now begins rolling backwards and Nie can be seen giving chase, but he is outrun by the driverless vehicle as he careers towards a curtain shop.

As more people jump out the way to safety, the SUV reverses backwards into the business, smashing through the door entrance in the process.

Nie finally catches up to his car and places both hands on the bonnet to stop it from rolling forwards again.

Leibo police said Nie failed to put on the handbrake, allowing the car to slide away as he turned his back to use the automated teller machine.

Fortunately, the accident caused no injuries, but Nie is expected to be found fully liable for all of the damaged caused.
