A driver wrecked a brand new 4X4 hire car when he rolled it down a mountain slope trying to show off his driving skills.
Extraordinary footage of the drama shows the SUV being driven up a steep mountainside inTyzyl Gorge in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.
But as he tries to manoeuvre to get down the slides to the side and begins to roll over and over down the slope.
Walkers who had been filming the stunt can be heard screaming as they run for cover as the Nissan Patrol SUV picks up speed.
The car’s roof quickly crumples and the rest of the bodywork falls to pieces while bits of the interior come flying through the windows.
The footage was shot in the picturesque Tyzyl Gorge in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic which has the highest mountains in Europe including Mount Elbrus which is 5642 m high – and has 22 glaciers.
The authorities said that the car was a write-off but that the driver – who had been alone in the car – was not seriously injured.
