This is the moment a brave cop lowers himself into a narrow hole and rescues a dog which was trapped inside.

The incident took place in the city of Culiacan, in the north-western Mexican state of Sinaloa when an officer from the Secretary of the Public Security and Municipal Traffic, whose name has not been revealed, rescued a dog that had fallen into the hole.

A witness told local media that one of his daughters had heard the dog when the ball they were playing with landed near the hole after the pooch had fallen down it.

The officers then arrived on the scene and one of them can be seen lowering himself into the hole with a baseball glove to try to rescue the pooch.

An onlooker is lighting the hole with a mobile phone torch and the cops then decides to ditch the glove, reportedly because the dog was scared of it and started biting him.

After lowering himself again the officer pulls the pooch to the surface and the dog can be seen running to safety.

The officer then covers the hole with a piece of wood as onlookers thank him. The dog reportedly returned home to its family after the rescue.

‘Pedro Antonio Aispuro Benitez’ added: “Very good, dude, big hugs and I join the people in thanking you!”
