This is the moment a security guard stops a toddler from crashing his mother’s pedicab into a shop window by grabbing the vehicle’s frame just in the nick of time.

The heart-stopping incident was captured by a surveillance camera outside a clothing wholesale market in the city of Shangqiu, in Central China’s Henan Province, where security guard Zhu Naizhong works.

The CCTV footage dated 19th September shows Mr Zhu squatting down behind a row of parked scooters when he suddenly looks up to see the two-year-old careering towards the shopfront.

Mr Zhu gets to his feet without hesitation and sprints to intercept the vehicle, while the boy’s mother is also desperately giving chase behind the pedicab.

The brave guard grabs the pedicab awning’s metal frame and stops it in its tracks, preventing the vehicle from crashing straight into the shop window by a split second.

The startled boy still clinging to the pedicab’s handlebars falls out of the vehicle onto the ground before his mother picks him up again, the video shows.

He was unharmed thanks to Mr Zhu’s heroics.

He said: ”I saw the child in the pedicab coming in my direction, his parent shouting and running behind him.

“He was heading straight for the shop, so I ran over to stop it.

“He was so young. Had I not stopped the pedicab and he crashed into the shop, the consequences… I don’t even want to think about it.”

According to reports, the child’s mother had been shopping nearby and left the tot on the pedicab by himself.

But she had forgotten to remove the keys from the ignition, allowing the boy to start the vehicle and drive it away.
