This is the moment a woman knocked over by a heavy goods vehicle ‘cheats death by 0.01 centimetres’ as the lorry’s wheels brush past her head.

The accident was captured on camera in Babu District in the city of Hezhou in China’s southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on the morning of 4th October.

The CCTV video shows lorry driver Mr Liao travelling in the right-turn lane of Guangming Avenue when scooter rider Ms Yang cuts in front of the vehicle.

Mr Liao fails to spot the rider in his blind spot and proceeds to knock the woman over, causing her to fall onto the road dangerously close to the lorry’s wheels.

The heavy goods vehicle then rolls right past Ms Yang without stopping, with the wheels just managing to avoid her head by a hair’s breadth.

As the video ends, a stunned Ms Yang is left sitting on the ground and staring at the lorry which finally brakes a few seconds later.

Hezhou authorities said Ms Yang, whose scooter had no number plates, “cheated death by 0.01 centimetres” and escaped largely unharmed.

They were still investigating the accident at the time of writing and did not say whether they had concluded which party would be held liable for causing the crash.
