Tragic Beyza Taskiran died instantly when she fell 14 metres (46 feet) from the passenger boarding bridge at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport on Sunday, 11th December.

Beyza, 32, was born in Kahramanmaras and was head of marketing at an IT company in Antalya.

The incident happened when she was preparing to board her flight home after attending a tourism fair.

Some local media outlets claimed she had jumped to her death following a heated conversation on her mobile phone.

But new information has emerged that contradicts this version of events.

Police seized Beyza’s phone as part of the investigation and found she had been speaking to her mother – named only as Canan G. – moments before she fell.

Her last words were: “Mum have you saved some food for me? I’m coming to Antalya hungry.”

Her family told local media: “A person who says ‘I’m coming to Antalya hungry’ does not commit suicide.”

They believe her death was caused by negligence on the part of the airport.

Beyza was buried in Antalya.

Her family said she enjoyed caring for stray animals and was successful in her job.

They said her company was planning to send her abroad and that she dreamed of getting married and starting a family.

The investigation into her untimely death is ongoing.
