This half-naked man spotted clinging to the outside of his fifth-floor apartment claims he was beaten and robbed by a would-be lover and pals in an internet date gone wrong.

The footage was shot at the house in the Sultangazi district of Istanbul in Turkey where the man, not named, had contacted another man on the Internet in order to arrange a meeting for sex.

He was partially naked when he opened the door expecting his online lover to be there, only to find three men waiting outside.

He said that the other two then started beating him, and ransacked the apartment looking for valuables. They also tried to force him to sign promissory notes agreeing to pay cash in the future.

Afraid for his life, he had managed to escape the crooks clutches and climbed out of the window on his balcony in the hope of climbing down to the ground.

But he got stuck, and was left screaming for his life where neighbours called the fire brigade and police who were able to rescue him.

The blackmailers meanwhile fled when they realised they had lost their prey, and it was not revealed what they managed to steal.

The police have now started an investigation and are searching for the three suspects. Homosexuality is legal in Turkey.
